Southeast Life Sciences was thrilled to return to an in-person hybrid event for the 2021 edition of our AdvanSE Conference, once again bringing together innovators, investors, corporate partners, and companies advancing our mission of cultivating, convening, and connecting the Southeast entrepreneurial ecosystem to foster life science innovation & investment across the region.
Kim Mackrill, COO at Mammoth Scientific, delivered the keynote – Stepping Up & Stepping Out: Moving Beyond the Hustle to Create the Innovation, Company and Future You Want – focused on the need for greater numbers of women founders and CEOs in the industry, exploring topics like the confidence gap and imposter syndrome as potential causes.
“Women-led startups, when they do get funded, are more likely to be successful,” Kim said. “They ultimately deliver higher revenue – more than twice as much per dollar invested. If you didn’t care because you don’t care about equality, you should care about the bottom line.”
