In 2019, the Southeastern Medical Device Association (SEMDA) and Southeast BIO (SEBIO) officially merged to form Southeast Life Sciences. The merger created a single, unified platform for medtech and bioscience innovation, partnering and investor relations.

Our Vision

A world-class ecosystem for life sciences in the southeast.

Our Mission

SLS cultivates, convenes, and connects the Southeast entrepreneurial ecosystem to foster life science innovation & investment across the region for the greater good.

We’re the network that brings all southern life science innovation together in one place:

For Investors & Strategics —

We bring your next (de-risked?) investable opportunity

For Young Companies —

We introduce you to your investors and potential partners

For Solution Providers —

We bring your next clients

We are the proud creator and producer of the AdvanSE Life Sciences Conference

The annual gathering of the most innovative life sciences companies, researchers, and accomplished investors and corporations that want to do business with them.

In 48 hours at AdvanSE, investors and partners can see the very best of what the southeast life sciences innovation ecosystem has to offer. It is highly efficient “shopping.” As a region, we bring a critical mass of innovators, investors, corporate partners, and the companies that help fill the gaps.

Women@SLS

Women@SLS was founded in 2016 with the mission to support women in the life sciences industry through networking and education. Through our first four years, we launched our flagship events – Life Science Women AdvanSE – in Atlanta and Memphis. We continue to host these events and webinars throughout the year, while look for our next “big thing.”

In 2021, we launched an initiative to increase women in leadership and decision-making positions in the industry. Our first step in that initiative will be a kick-off keynote address at Life Science Women AdvanSE on June 24, 2021.

SE Color

SE Color was launched in November 2020 during our AdvanSE Life Sciences Conference. SE Color’s mission is to support minority life science entrepreneurship, increase investment in minority-owned life science businesses, and improve minority access to information and clinical opportunities.

Our first initiative major initiative is to increase minority participation in vaccinations and clinical trials. We launched this initiative at the AdvanSE Life Sciences conference with a panel focused on the reason for distrust in the community and actions the industry can take to work through that distrust. We will continue to educate ourselves and the community to better understand the challenges and solutions.

In addition, we are hosting our first SE Color Pitchrounds on June 24, 2021 in conjunction with the Women@SLS conference. The winner will receive a $10,000 prize as well as other benefits.
